I think using WP Fastest Cache and Asset Clean Up you have all your bases covered for your caching needs. These allow high levels of control over your caching specifics.
Cache plugins speed up your website significantly so you should try to use one. In my experience they sometimes don’t work well with cookies but below are some I’ve worked with and I consider to work well with cookies and are very solid choices for your WordPress Site.
WP Fastest Cache
WP Fastest Cache is super easy to set up and has over 1 million downloads. It’s also has an easy dashboard to alter all the settings and turn on the cache initially. Once set up you can clear the cache manually if required or you can set it up to clear automatically on certain events like the publishing of a new post or update of an existing page or post.
Asset Clean Up
Asset Clean Up is a cache plugin and even though it doesn’t work the same as a LightSpeed Cache Plugin. The difference being, Asset Clean Up doesn’t cache the entire page but instead
- caches JS and CSS files as well as combines them into two files (one file for CSS and one for JS),
- allows you to remove certain files from being loaded on certain pages which can be additionally useful because WordPress Plugins are not so specific about this and doing this can net page speed improvements.
Simply Static
Simply Static is a plugin which pre-processes pages on your site to lower the page load time. It does this by preparing an HTML only version of each page and serving that to the user of your site instead of routing everything through the WordPress software and can dramatically reduce your page load time.
NOTE: Be sure to read the instructions carefully as while it is integrated with some plugins like Contact Form 7 and can also be used with comments etc there may be some dynamic functionality which is lost on your site by using this. make sure to test thoroughly. For sites which are relatively basic like a brochure site this is often fine. It’s the more complex ones, like e-commerce etc where you may struggle. For example, if stock needs to update everyday then do some investigation with this plugin because while it can handle changes it may be impractical to do so.
Full site speed optimization process
On top of Caches to speed up your website you can implement more tools to make it even faster. Check out the YouTube playlist I made utilizing all of these. You can watch along and do the same things on your site (most of them are free) to speed up your site.
